Make sure it's not a screen issue. A common mistake is when the screen itself is black, people assume their laptop is off when it isn't. If you intentionally want to disable the KB then, with the battery still connected, I suggest the KB mainboard connector needs to be removed from the mainboard to determine which of the KB's
