In isolation the e-tron still feels really good to punt around in - though still lacking any steering feel - but the whole thing feels a little bloated compared to a regular A3. Tell me about range.

S-tronic behaviour questions. I have read that the PDK in the early MY’s of the Macan, has had some major problems. Not sure if the PDK is the same across models, but even the PDKs aren’t immune to costly, annoying issues; like the DSG. Resurrecting this thread with an update, in case anyone else has similar issues.
I don't think the question should be "Is the R-Tronic really as bad as people say" as much as it should be "Is the S-Tronic as good as people say" and the answer is yes. Yes, the S-Tronic is fantastic. As someone who has test driven a manual and an R-Tronic and currently owns an S-Tronic, it is that good.
The R8 S-Tronic gearbox is probably one of the best in the market and up there with the likes of the Porsche PDK. It has an exciting Jekyll and Hyde characteristic with super smooth fast shifts in non sport mode and aggressive abrupt shifts in sports mode. The rev matching in sports mode is also intoxicating.
