Minehad a good little leak to it. I pulled it, thoroughly brake cleaned the valve cover, and cleaned the mating surface on the head with a rag soaked in brake clean. After all was clean and dry, I used ford grey silicone (was designed for the 7.3 powerstroke. They dont have an oil pan gasket, the grey silicone is all.
Connecta hand vacuum pump to the EGR valve in place of the vacuum hose and apply 15 in-Hg of vacuum to the valve (if you don't have access to a vacuum pump you may borrow-rent one from a local auto parts store). As you apply vacuum to the valve, check for diaphragm movement. Also, pay attention to engine idle.
