Harmon Kardon. I would definitely get it. I have one and when I had a loaner from the dealership it did not and the difference is considerable. I agree with all that have said the engine is the best stereo but when you want the tunes the better system is worth the $$$.
iTrader: ( 0) Living with the Hi-Fi Sound System: A Possible "Fix". I, like many here, purchased a BMW (M340i) recently with the HiFi sound system due to supply shortages. Coming from two leases with the Harman Kardon (HK) sound system and being somewhat of an audiophile, I was very nervous to settle on the HiFi sound system.
It was an expensive purchase but well worth the cost in my opinion. I have had three BMWs over the past 20 years with the Harman Kardon upgrade, and have been generally happy with the sound. The BimmerTech amp upgrade (to me) sounds as good or better than what I heard in my cars with the Harmon Kardon equipped cars.
On the base 2022 BMW X5 sDrive 40i or the BMW X5 xDrive45e, the standard stereo offers 205 watts and 10 speakers. But go for the M50i or X5 M and you get a Harman Kardon Surround Sound Audio
The B&W option is pricier (£3750 versus £895) but the difference is night and day. The Harman system is seriously lacking when it comes to detail and dynamics and the treble and midrange performance isn’t in the same league. Good review. I am a audiophile and I also got to hear what the BMW “base audio system” sounds like on a demo car. There is nothing base about it. It’s very respectable and it should be coming from BMW. The HK logic surround system is a noticeable premium and will satisfy 99%.
