Brand new 2014 F31 320d M sport. Purchased April 2014 delivered late July 2014 had the car for 3 days and not had it since. It's been in the shop with a steering rack problem ever since. I'd say reliability is poor. BMW delivered the car unfit for the road and have been unable so far to fix the car. All the 5 series 320D suffer from timing chain issues, as they never had N47C. So if you wish to go for 320D, then make sure it has N47C. Thanks for the reply but slightly confused now.
floydarogers said: If your thermostat fails, the Service Engine Soon light will come on. They're designed to fail open; this keeps coolant flowing. If they failed shut the engine would almost immediately overheat. In addition to the SES, if it does fail open, you won't have much heat from the heater.
